Wachovia Championship Cup

I was looking at the numbers (thanks Southpaw) and since Gate City has three teams at the final four at Radford, win or lose, they take the Cup. Already in first place with 172.5 points and at least 37.5 x 3 more points, no one else is close. I hope I'm right! Keep playing hard Gate City!

So it is possible to win that thing without even winning one state title?

Oh yea, how could I forget Volleyball aren't they like 70-0 or something like that. I need to look at that Wachovia Cup, I've never understood exactly how it works in regards to points. It's a great accomplishment to win, but sort of reminds me of that directors cup the NCAA has most couldn't even tell you who won that last year. I know I cant.

Yes, it is...although GC did win state in volleyball this season. A school is rewarded by points earned by finishing in the top 8 in any VHSL sanctioned sporting event, of course the higher you finish the more points that are earned/rewarded. I've seen a hardcopy someone had at the LPD baseball tournament before the PV-GC final. Photofinish is right, GC should be able to win it this year. One factor that hurts schools in Region D is that we participate in less sports than schools within the other 3 regions. This year it looks as if this will not make a difference.

    Re: Wachovia Championship Cup

Thats what I was thinking, there are several sports that Region D schools do not even participate in. Anyway, Congrats and hopefully PV can get Brad on the hill Saturday in Radford and beat GC to win the state title in baseball.

Both GC & PV have their work cut out for them to make it to Saturday. Chatham was a very strong team last year when GC faced them in the semi's & returned most of their team from 2004. Randolph Henry also has a very good team, defeating Chatham in the Region B finals 4-3 on Monday.

Good luck to the Devils & Vikings, it would be nice to see an all-LPD state championship final in baseball.

I've asked this twice but I'll ask it to you, do you know if Randolph Henry pitched Yancey today?
